Underdog Sports Leagues & 6-person Pickleball

Underdog took the feedback that they gathered from other SSIA clubs regarding Pickleball and in 2023, worked to re-imagine the normal Pickleball format for both indoor and outdoor leagues. In an effort to curb forfeits, no-shows and game reschedules by two-person teams, Underdog decided to use a 6-person team format.

Teams of six split up into three mini-teams, and rotate and play all three of their opponents three mini-teams in an hour. This gave teams the opportunity to play short and not forfeit, resulting in a low forfeiture rate. It also had the benefit of allowing for free agent/Indy teams to meet and play with more than one person for the season, which has helped increase Indy team retention.
