SSIA Newsletter: May 2023

Happy May! Similar to the Northern Hemisphere, the SSIA is experiencing its own version of Spring with a number of new beginnings: Galen Beers is returning to the Executive Director role, a new Executive Committee was elected, and a new President will take over for John Pantzer. In this month's newsletter, we will share John's farewell message, welcome Galen back as the ED, congratulate the new EC, share the conference seminar recordings and a message from the DEI Committee, and welcome a new member. I am super excited to be stepping back in to support the SSIA as Executive Director. While I say this I also have to acknowledge that I will be filling some huge shoes. I’d like to sincerely thank Krissy for all she has done for the SSIA. When I took a step back a few years ago the SSIA was in “good” shape but nowhere near where it is today. We are more organized, bigger and stronger than ever and we all have Krissy to thank for guiding us to where we are today.   As we look forward, I’m excited to get back in touch with all the members and to partner with the new Executive Committee to continue our progress. Some key initiatives for 2023/2024: Build a strong partnership and operating model with the new EC Modernize the SSIA tech stack by implementing an Association Management Platform (currently in process) Drive additional member value via knowledge share, partner programs and of course… the 2024 Industry Conference (here we come Punta Cana!!!) Finally, I want to thank the SSIA Executive Committee, our partners & sponsors and of course… our amazing members for allowing me the opportunity to rejoin the amazing community I helped found in 2010.   Please reach out anytime if you have any questions or just want to talk shop!

The past two years as President of the SSIA have given me unique insight into our industry and have proven to be very rewarding.  It has been nice to give back to an industry that has given me the opportunity to build an awesome company over the past 29 years. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with several amazing individuals on the Executive Committee to guide the SSIA.  Coming out of Covid has proven to be a very busy time for many of us in this industry as we have dealt with challenges as we returned to business. I want to express thanks to Krissy for all her efforts over the past several years as Executive Director.  I also want to thank Galen for his involvement and his willingness to step up to lead the organization forward.  I am confident that the newly elected Board under his guidance will continue to move the SSIA forward and increase member value.  I want to thank every Executive Committee member past and present for the time they devote to the SSIA.  We as an industry are better because the SSIA exists.  Earlier this year, we held one of the most successful conferences ever and it was so much fun to see all the clubs come together in KC to share knowledge and help our industry grow.  I am grateful for my time as president of the SSIA and will enjoy watching where the organization goes from here.  I know the SSIA is set up for success and look forward to attending next year’s conference and seeing what this new group of leaders does as they continue to build the SSIA and recognition for our industry.   Cheers, John Pantzer

This husband-and-wife duo currently offer flag football and kickball leagues. They got started a few years back after playing in and working for Beach City Sports.
